AND SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION"
While engaging in advertisement sales for terrestrial broadcasting, KOBACO has never forgotten the fact that electrical waves are an asset of the people and that KOBACO is simply a caretaker of that asset on behalf of people. That is why KOBACO has continued to give back the profits it has made from broadcast advertising through social contribution activities, media promotion projects, and culture and arts projects.
SOCIAL CONTRIBUTION ACTIVITIES THAT INVOLVE PUTTING SHARING-ORIENTED MANAGEMENT INTO ACTION
The KOBACO Social Volunteer Group was launched in December 2006, with voluntary participation by 166 KOBACO employees. The KOBACO Social Volunteer Group is carrying out social contribution activities such as volunteer activities at the Youngnak Borinwon every week, a rice-sharing event, and group blood donations as well as holding daily camps for differently-abled people every summer since 1998, under the catch phrase, "Let us share the spirit of love." Other social volunteer activities carried out by KOBACO include establishing ¡®One company, one village¡¯ sisterhood ties with Sadong Village in Dangyang-gun, North Chungcheong Province, helping farmers during their busy season, engaging in environmental protection activities, holding events by inviting elementary school students in the village, and donating the company's computers to elementary schools.
Scholarship Activities
In order to help develop experts and strengthen the competitiveness of advertising industry, KOBACO initiated to provide scholarship in 2007. The scholarships are provided to 50 students and each one of them receives 2 million won. In addition, KOBACO also operates free advertising training sessions for both elementary school and high school students.
OPERATION OF THE kobaco TRAINING INSTITUTE
The kobaco Training Institute(formerly known as Namhangang Training Institute), with high-tech educational facilities and operational management systems, is an arena for the re-education and self-development of people in the media, culture and arts and advertising circles. KOBACO rents out kobaco Training Institute facilities free of charge or at a discount to socially alienated and public-interest groups so that more people can enjoy the benefits offered by the Institute.
Media Development And Cultural Arts Promotion Projects
KOBACO used public interest funds to build the Arirang Tower, Korea Broadcast Building, Seoul Arts Center and the Press Center that can function as the backbone infrastructure of media projects and exchanges among media personnel. Moreover, KOBACO has played a pivotal role in media development by providing public interest funds to the Korean Broadcasting Commission, Press Arbitration Commission, and Korea Press Ethics Commission. By actively sponsoring cultural and arts projects such as the Seoul Performing Arts Company, KOBACO has played a leading role in the promotion of culture and arts and is continuously conducting projects to share culture.
